Course Description

DermPath Slide Review participants not only fulfill proficiency testing requirements of CLIA88, but also earn 15 hours of Category 1 CME credit, all in the context of a fun and enjoyable in-office/in-home continuing education program for dermatopathology. Throughout the year, 30 glass slides (in three sets of 10) are mailed out with accompanying multiple choice questions. During each segment, slides are reviewed and multiple choice questions answered at your own leisure and at your own pace. Shortly after each segment, an answer sheet with complete explanations is sent, and the participant self-scores his/her questionnaire.

Are there any required levels of successful performance?

No. There are no defined levels of successful performance. Mere participation in and completion of the program satisfies CLIA88 requirements. Your results are completely confidential. Only you will monitor your performance by comparing your answers with the case answers and explanations sheet. At the conclusion of all three segments, usually in August, a framable certificate of completion is mailed to each participant.

The course is sponsored by Bethesda Dermatopathology Lab and MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society, and it is co-directed by Kenneth J. Friedman, M.D. and Jeff D. Harvell, M.D.
