Dr. Kenneth Friedman

Dr. Kenneth Friedman

Director

Dr. Friedman has been Director of BDL since 1988. He received his M.D. from State University of New York in 1981, and completed his anatomic pathology residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Friedman completed fellowships in dermatopathology at Duke University and Johns Hopkins University, and was on the full time teaching faculty at Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Dermatology. Dr Friedman has a special interest in alopecia, adnexal tumors, and oral pathology. He is passionate about teaching and spearheaded BDL’s DermPath Slide Review CME program, which is the only course of its kind in the U.S.

Dr. Nicola Bravo

Dr. Nicola Bravo
Board-Certified Dermatopathologist

Dr. Bravo received her M.D. from Duke University in 1990. She completed her residencies in internal medicine and dermatology and her fellowship training in dermatopathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has been on the full time teaching faculty at Johns Hopkins Hospital and has been an associate at BDL since 1998. Dr. Bravo has a special interest in medical dermatology, connective tissue diseases, and melanocytic lesions.

Dr. Carmen Myrie Williams

Dr. Carmen Myrie Williams
Board-Certified Dermatopathologist 

Dr. Williams received her M.D. from New York University in 1974. She completed her residency training in dermatology and surgical pathology and her dermatopathology fellowship training at New York University. She was on the full time teaching faculty at George Washington University from 1992-1997, attaining the level of tenured Professor and director of dermatopathology. She is a past president of the Washington, D.C. Dermatology Society. She has a special interest in skin cancer and cutaneous lymphoma.

Dr. Jeffrey Harvel

Dr. Jeffrey Harvell
Board-Certified Dermatopathologist

Dr. Harvell received his M.D. from the University of Virginia in 1991. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of California, San Francisco and his dermatopathology fellowship at Wake Forest University. Dr. Harvell was on the full time teaching faculty in pathology and dermatology at Stanford University prior to joining BDL. He is on the editorial boards of The American Journal of Dermatopatholgy and the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. He has a special interest in inflammatory skin disease and lymphoproliferative disorders.

Dr. Mary Roushdy

Dr. Mary Roushdy
Board-Certified Dermatopathologist

Dr. Roushdy received her M.D. from Cairo University School of Medicine in 1973. She completed her pathology residency at Fairfax Hospital and her dermatopathology fellowship training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology under the direction of the renowned Dr. James Graham. She has practiced exclusively dermatopathology for over 24 years. She was the director of her own independent dermatopathology laboratory in Virginia prior to joining BDL. She has a special interest in adnexal tumors.
